An Overview Of Our Solution

Nematodes have been cultured for pests, and successfully worked in the field. They can protect plants from pest’s damage, and are the most abundant group of living animals on the earth. They are small worms that are less than a half a millimeter long. It lives on the soil creating an effective barrier against new infestation; it either kills soil-dwelling insects or kills leave plants pests; improves either plants’ disease resistance or crop’s production. It will not infect humans or any warm-blooded vertebrate, fish or plants. In fact, Beneficial insect like honeybees, ladybugs and butterflies are highly resistant to it. It is packed cold and shipped live directly to the costumers. Users drop them in water and pour the solution around the foundation perimeter. The smartest and most economical way to protect our plants is with the help of it.

Solution

Describe your solution

Pests are plant and our property damages, especially for our vegetables, fruits, nuts, tea, tobacco plants, crop and forest. In China, there are more than 700 pests damaging the plants. More importantly, several ancient temples collapsed due to pest infestation. Also some reservoir dams have fallen and many persons died because the termite nests in the dam. Even in the weapon storage, pests damage the cartridge box, making accident. Pests destroy vast forest in China; Agriculture Ministry of China has to invest abundant sums of money every year in an effort to control pests infestation, the pesticide production is 3.37 million tons in 2015. The pesticide residuals made more troubles for our daily life. The pesticide residuals run on the air , with water and into soil, more unsafe food come, many people and animals got cancer and untreatable ill. Now the environment protection and men’s safety are the most important issues in China and in the World.
Implementation

Describe your implementation

Nemtaode was cultured on Dec. 18, 2011 in Beijing, its Scientific Classification: Kingdom: Animals; Phylum: Nematoda; Class: Chromadorea; Order: Rhabditida; Family: Steinernematidae; Genus: Steinernema; Species: Steinernema Carpocapsae Binomial name: Steinernema Carpocapsae Its usages: 1, it is effective against mobile pests like fleas, caterpillars, cutworms, sod webworms, pill bugs, maggots, worker/soldier of termites, corn borer, aphids, leaf miners, root-knot nematode, cutworm, cricket, grub, slug, thrip, psyllid, brown spiders, tea green leafhoppers, gall mites, Fire ants, snails and longicorns. 2, improve the resistance of plants’ diseases: After using Nemat#1, dendrobium stems are more thick, bright, big and green in Haikou, Hainan. 3, improve the production of plants: Tea and dendrobium production have been improved. 4, enrich the organic in the plants foundation perimeter soil: After using it in Loudi and Zhuzhou, Hunan, many more earthworms appear in the soil. 5, it is possible to separate melittin from it, this project will be started in the end of 2017. On Sept. 15, 2013, this project has been honored the excellent award in the second new enterpriser and innovation competition conference of PRC. From 2012 to 2015, it has been applied the recorder and administration in Beijing, Zhejiang and Hunan respectively. Because it is a new concept in China, it wasn’t administered until March 8, 2016 in Beijing after State Council of PRC announced the new pesticide administration codes on Jan. 28, 2016. Finally on Jan. 20th, 2017, it has been granted the Certificate for Pesticide field Trial (as the natural enemy of the pests) by Agriculture Ministry of PRC (# S Y 201700023), it will be tested in the fields in northern China and southern China respectively in 2 years.

7、The termite, the brown spiders, the aphid, tea green leafhoppers, gall mites, blackflies, and longicorns, Fire ants and snails are controlled by it.
It improves the resistance of plants’ diseases and the production either.

How did you impact natural resource use and greenhouse gas emissions?

Chinese bee (Apis cerena ) has evolved in the nature more than 70 million years, there come greater wax moth; Western bees (Apis mellifera L.) appeared in China in 1900 end, Now Chinese bees exist in 10% territory of China, entomologists agree that the sudden and mysterious disappearance of Chinese bees from their hives poses serious problems! In 2017, AnCo ETech will let Chinese Bee reappear in Shandong, China. There are more than 340,000 beekeepers in China, every hiver can supply more than 3,000 pieces of used honeycombs a year which is exchanged with septum. Every year there are more than 1.2 billion of used honeycombs produced in China. AnCo ETech utilizes these used Chinese honeycombs to produce Galleria Mellonella eggs, and takes western honeycombs to culture Galleria Mellonella, more than 20 thousands of Galleria Mellonella can be cultured using a piece of honeycomb; then use this worm as food to culture Nematode, 50 thousands to 100 thousands of it can be cultured per worm. Using Nematode replaces pesticides to control pests, keeping the clean air; fresh water and original soil, no pollution sources exists. Health crop, grain, vegetable produce naturally.

An eggplant plant farmer has a hectare of eggplants, in normal season, the production is 150 ton. per ha., it soles at: ¥2 per kg., total is ¥0.3 million. 1, the pesticide cost: ¥15,000 ($2170, $1.00 = ¥6.90), Nematode costs ¥7,500 ($1085), save ¥7,500 ($1085), 50% up. 2, improving the production 30% up, get ¥45,000 ($6522) more. 3, health product soles higher than eggplant applied pesticides, at least 20%, this is ¥78 thousands ($11,304) more. 4, above save and enhanced is ¥130,500 ($18913

Water

There is pesticide residual neither in eggplants nor in soil. Air is clean, water is fresh and soil is enriched the organic around the foundation perimeter.

Food Security/Nutrition

The vegetables produced in Haikou, Hainan have been tested that no pesticide residuals in their vegetables, and these vegetables have been sold for more than ¥16 ($2.32) per kg. The dendrobium stem has been tested more dendrobium nutrition in the stem than the normal.

Economic/Sustainable Development

Now the greater wax moths are picked by hands, nematode is inoculating in the culturing containers by hand; the final processing of separation Nematode from water is slow, its cost is ¥30 ($4.35) per 20 million (0.3 billion of it per hectare). In one year, separation of greater wax moth from the honeycomb, the inoculation of nematode in the containers, and the separation it from water will be mechanization automatically, its cost will be under ¥10 ($1.45) per 20 million.

Climate

The nematode dies either under -6oC, or above 34 oC, it should be applied in the field in the rain day and cloud day, or after sun set because it will die under the sunshine either. After applied to the field, Nemat#1 will find where the temperature fit it lives (2 oC -29 oC),hiding in the shadow place, such as the back of the plant leaves.

Sustainability

This project relies on neither grant funding nor government subsidies, but totally relies on market-based revenue.
There are more than 340,000 beekeepers and every year there are more than 1.2 billion of used nests produced in China. In Changge city, Henan, a half of people work in productions relevant to bee; About 300 persons recycle used nests national wide in China, the used nest’s recycle price is ¥3.5 ($0.51) a piece as being sent to our workshop; once we go to their work-site to cut the used nests, the recycle price is ¥2.0 ($0.29) a piece; if the septum is made by ourselves, its cost is ¥1.2 ($0.17) a piece which can be exchanged either with a piece of used western honeycomb or with 3 pieces of used Chinese honeycombs.

Return on investment

There are a wax moth farm and a Nematode farm, which can supply Nematode 10-13 ha a day , it is, 3 billion of it a ha. It has been granted the Certificate for Pesticide field Trial by Agriculture Ministry of PRC, it is, #SY201700023, the permit will be granted in 2 years. Testing budget is $290 thousand; this includes wage, material and other costs. Because Nematode is in the testing period, it is not for sale. We’ll serve for the costumers to warrant their produces without damage of pests a year. The service budget at $218 thousand has been planned, there is a half of $72 thousand deficit spending, which will rely on the debt or other financing support. Return on this investment is higher.

Replication and Scale

How could we successfully replicate this solution elsewhere?

Now manual procedure is handled tediously; its cost is $65.22 per 0.3 billion, it is, 0.3 billion of it a ha. Before the permit granted, all the processing will be mechanization automatically, its cost will be under $21.74 per 0.3 billion. Wax moth farm has been worked for 3 years, usually it supplied 800 moths a day; now it supplies 4,000 moths a day, in 2017’ March, it is 80,000; Nematode farm usually supplied 2 X 20 million of it a day; now it supplies 10 X 20 million of it a day, in the early of 2017’ March, it is 10-13 ha a day. Once permit is granted, the former can supply 1.2 million of the moths a day; the latter can supply 3,000 X 20 million Nematode a day in full scale; these two farms can need $2.9 million. This solution can be replicated elsewhere in China; Nematode production depends on the customer’s order, the customer has to pay a half of the order deposit, then the production will be arranged.
