Collaboration between local government, civil society, community and traditional leadership is becoming commonplace in Pohnpei. CSP and Nett are currently working on this project.

In Nett, all communities are represented at the meetings by their local government representatives or traditional chiefs.

Costo económico

Cost of community meetings are normally bourn by the local government and partner NGOs. In Nett, communities also defray cost of meetings including preparation of food. Each meeting would cost around $1,000.00.

Beneficio económico

It is yet to be determined as to actual income generated. However, it well known in Nett that by protecting the ecosystem, crops seem to yield better. As to the water, it is anticipated that the cost of providing water will decrease as the need for filtering and chlorination decarease.

Solution allow community to work together and care for water supply/river. Increase awareness, thus empowering community to take responsibility over the management of the water supply/river.

Activities improve the health of the river and protect the vegetation around the area, thus reducing the risk for erosion, land slides and other threats.
