Greenhouse gas pollution in urban areas is generated mostly by the transport sector; that additional are source of auditory contamination; everything increases when increasing the necessary services in the city, such as the parcel service, which are currently made with gasoline motorcycles, highly polluting by its combustion cycle. The solution proposes the development of sustainable urban facilities and the reduction of emissions in the transport sector; by introducing electric vehicles (motorcycles) in the delivery of packages and domestic shipments. It is intended that the people who inhabit the city, reduce their carbon footprint by sending parcels and urban air is benefited from the reduction of greenhouse gases and noise that affects urban bird species.

Context Analysis
Climate change throughout the world we must highlight the sectorial impact of transport on total emissions. A considerable increase in CO2 emissions of up to 40% is expected in the transport sector, which today represents 49% of the national inventory of greenhouse gases in Ecuador, and 80% of these are services urban increasing pollution in cities.
The transport sector in Ecuador; following the world trend; it consumes mainly fossil fuels, since practically 100% are petroleum products consumed in combustion engines, making it one of the main sectors of urban air pollution and emission of greenhouse gases at a national level.
A public service that changes the trend of fossil fuel consumption at the urban level; based on electrical energy; It will bring confidence of the citizens to choose an electric vehicle for its mobilization.
Describe the technical solution you wanted the target audience to adopt
The evolution of the messaging sector due to the growing electronic commerce in the country, has created the massive urban distribution market; for which at present the proportion of urgent deliveries of small parcels through conventional motorcycles, represents an affectation to the environment, being two-stroke engines those used, for what is identified as a solution the introduction of new technologies, the evolution of the sector, covering the growing demand of the geographical expansion of the city, sales, market, etc.
That is why the solution proposes that the use of fossil fuels be diverted from the delivery of parcels and urban shipments; reducing auditory and air pollution.

Mistrust in the acquisition and use of new technologies for mobility in Ecuador, does not allow to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases in urban areas; the use of gasoline for all types of transport is increasing every year; including the sending of packages. Therefore, the incoprporación of a large-scale service of urban delivery of messaging, impacts mainly on the behavior of users, and citizens who can check the effectiveness, efficiency and positive impact of the use of vehicles that use alternative fuels.
As needed, please explain the type of intervention in more detail
The intervention area is the delivery of packages acquired in electronic stores in the urban area of Quito; in which the highest percentage of purchase is registered; even with this, the delivery is made through highly contaminated gasoline motorcycles by the combustion cycle.

The project aims:
1. Offer customers a comprehensive service that covers all their urban messaging needs, expanding the offer through a service that respects the environment.
2. Increase the speed of parcel shipments within the city, through a smartphone application and track its package, which increases the safety of users.
3. Contribute to the dissemination of technological innovations in the field of clean technologies, collaborating in the global fight against climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
4. Reduce the levels of environmental and acoustic pollution generated by the activity of a courier company in the urban area, by means of electric motorcycles.
in order to reduce and, in the future, make the use of fossil fuels disappear without prejudice to the performance of its activity, the effect that it has on society as a whole, manifested in three ways, is of great importance:
1. The diffusion effect, both of the problem and the management of solutions. (Visual campaign made in the media for the preference of shipments without fossil fuels)
2. The effect of example, of bringing this type of vehicle closer to society.
3. The positive effect of this initiative in the promotion of the cities of Ecuador, as a dynamic society that welcomes and promotes innovation, and is sensitive to the environmental problems of our time.
On the other hand, the main benefit of the project is the ability to continue combining business philosophy with changing market conditions, while retaining and increasing the differentiation of its product with that of the competition.
Thus, it is expected that this initiative will increase the sales level of the company, while reducing its current expenditure due to lower fuel consumption.
External connections
Electronic commerce in Ecuador (Yaesta.com, Linio, etc) will be a fundamental part of the development; having a positive effect of the reduction of environmental impact with the consumption of fossil fuels in the shipments of their acquired packages.
The project also combines with other sectors of the economy, such as the manufacture and assembly of motorcycles and parts for these; since by increasing the market; increases the need to have the development of this industry in the country.

In Europe, mainly in Spain, there are initiatives that establish the change of fuels in the distribution of messaging, this, together with the renewable energy that Ecuador has, generates the optimal scenario for the development of this type of initiatives that contribute to the paradigm shift of urban mobility.
How did you impact natural resource use and greenhouse gas emissions?
The project uses the renewable natural resources in a responsible way, guaranteeing the service of the users and additionally showing that the change of fuel in mobility, strongly reduces the greenhouse gases in the urban areas.
What were some of the resulting co-benefits?
The initiative contributes to the economic development of urban areas, and mainly to welfare and social contribution in the reduction of greenhouse gases by urban messaging users.
Currently, Ecuador has high rates of renewable energy, which allows displacing the use of gasoline from urban consumption.
Additionally, the auditory pollution generated by conventional motorcycles, cause affectations to the fauna that inhabits the city; for the high levels of noise; contributing to the conservation of urban biodiversity.
Sustainability
Initially, it depends on the cooperation or soft credit that can be obtained, in order to achieve the economic sustainability of the same growing market of urban parcel shipments, offering additional efficiency, reducing the carbon footprint of the buyers.

The implementation of the solution is calculated at $ 20,000, with an investment return of 20%, calculated with the current costs of technology and cost of electric power in Ecuador (it has a reduced rate for mobility).

How could we successfully replicate this solution elsewhere?
The replicability of the initiative is possible worldwide, where transport is the largest energy conuummer and therefore the largest emitter of urban greenhouse gases; the initiative has been done before in other parts of the world with excellent results; Not so the total use of renewable energy, creates a new opportunity in the development of new technology.
