Results

Who adopted the desired behaviors and to what degree?

The solution is implemented in Denmark, and serviced by local government. In addition, you have large facilities for recycling larger items, available in all constituencies in Denmark. Burning facilities are used in Denmark to power heating in winter.

How did you impact natural resource use and greenhouse gas emissions?

The burning facilities burn "clean", reducing the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere. The size of the burning facilities are scaled for the local population where the energy will be used.

What were some of the resulting co-benefits?

A local chain of stores Rema1000 have started an initiative to eliminate single-use plastic in their supplychain.

Replication and Scale

Sustainability

It is envisaged that UNDP sponsorship an commercial sponsorship will be required. Overa period of 5-10 years the recycling initiativeshould be close to self sustainable

Return on investment

No business casehas been produced yet.

How could we successfully replicate this solution elsewhere?

It is a working part of Denmark's infrastructure, servicing dailly 5,6m people. Funding requirements depends on detailed business case, which is to be completed.
