We are in a process to success it is not that we have already been successful of endeavor? there bureaucracy, local and national politics. Some powerful community i.e. business community is also the stakeholders of the project. We are able to involve local elected representative (Pathalia union parisad) with us. We have done an intensive survey of a village called Ghugudia and found that fishing and farming community are in the most vulnerable position from the case. The issue of decisions making is a very complex one its not such that they can take the decision that industries who are polluting the river will be punished and compensate to the farmers and traditional fishing community, its a collective issue and we try to bring them their opinion and suggestion in the top of the list. Department of Environment (DoE), Ministry of Environment and Forest, the government of Bangladesh, Jahangirnagr University, every school (primary and secondary) alongside the river Bangshi, Alumni of the Future Generations Graduate School, and The Global Citizen Initiatives (TGCI) (www.gcitizen.org ) are partners of the project

Describe the community-based process used to develop the solution including tools and processes used
The people of this land have the huge resilience to cope with many natural calamities such as seasonal flash floods, drought, cyclone but climate change is more than natural and it is more on human inducing. Therefore new and innovative approaches are important. Within the limited resource there needs a good local resource use planning. Different users group i.e. Industry, agriculture and domestic users should have fare share and equal access to local resource i.e. Water.
Climate hazard of concern
How does your solution reduce the exposure of and buffer/protect the ecosystem affected?
Changing temperatures and weather patterns
How has your solution increased the capacity of the ecosystem to adapt to potential climate changes?
Pollution in the river reduces the fish production and other water living i.e. insects and others. Therefore to stop pollution at local level simply contributing to global climate issue. Such as once due to climate change reduce water flow or stream temperature polluted the water, there local initiatives to reduce pollution add value to local climate change adaptation.
How does your solution reduce the exposure of and buffer/protect the communities affected?
Reduction of pollution enhance the tolerance of species, hence to increase capacity to adapt to potential climate change
How does your solution reduce the sensitivity of the communities affected?
Fishing and farmer community have more diversified adaptive opted as industries create more employment in the community and not reducing the job opportunities by polluting the river.
Can this solution be replicated elsewhere?
Local politics and industrialist are main barriers for the success. Such as businessman wants profit by any means and they just polluting local environment and water. However, for time being they think they are benefited themselves but in the long run in questions of their next/future generations they came to realize all these are harmful for them. Not every one some business people join with the activities and we are continuing with our advocacy and social mobilization campaign, lobbing with local government and political groups for work together in the project.
